More About A Galerie Antiques, Art, and Collectibles

Two years at 315 Cameron Street are just a sequel to a lifelong dedication to art and antiques. Originally antique auction rivals, Alex and I are now busy managing two art gallery spaces on Cameron St.

I grew up in Virginia, surrounded by family heirlooms and paintings, many of which were done by family artists. From the time that I was a little girl, my two loves were science, history and art. In college I studied Medical Technology. As a member of academic staff of Cornell Medical School in the Department of Hematology – Oncology for 20 years, I wanted a career change. After 19 years of living in Manhattan, I moved back to Virginia.

Finding the Washington DC area a rich source of antique and international furnishings, I decided to decorate my new home with art and furniture acquired from estate sales. Friends encouraged me to find unique items for their homes, and soon I started purchasing home décor for additional clients.

In 2007 I opened a home staging and home décor business. Before moving to Old Town Alexandria in 2012, I had an antique and home decor store for 3 years in Falls Church, VA. Art, antique and classical design has always been my passion and core focus.

Alex is a professional colleague with a like taste in and knowledge of antiques with a strong background in business. For many years he was a noted international merchandizer and eveningwear design consultant in NYC. In 2008, Alex made a big career change and decided to dedicate himself to the business of selling art and antiques.

Initially, his two major interests were porcelain figurines and paintings, both watercolor and oil. An asset to the gallery is his work as an apprentice of a well-known art conservator.
